# How to read a record — UK companies with a receiver appointed on a charge

> What the record is, what the status means, and what is left out.

## How to read these records

### Which companies

Two tests, both from the Companies House register: the status is “Live but Receiver Manager on at least one
charge”, and the last accounts were made up to a date in 2019 or later. Schools, nurseries, health and care providers
and companies named after a person are left out.

### What a receiver on a charge is

A lender that holds a charge over an asset can appoint a receiver to collect income from it or sell it. The
receiver acts over that asset, not over the whole company, which stays live.

### What is not here

Names of receivers, directors or any individual. Street addresses. The lender. Companies in liquidation or
administration, which are on a separate site .

**Receiver or director of a company listed here?**

The internal data of a company that employed 50 people or more (Slack or Microsoft Teams archive, documentation, project histories) may still have value after it has stopped operating.

[Check whether this company’s data qualifies →](/pro.md) We are paid by the buyer if a partnership is signed, never by the company. Whether personal data in those archives can be transferred is a legal question for whoever controls them. Not affiliated with Companies House.
